Fall Fun in Fredericksburg

Governor Abbot has re-opened the bars in Texas, and the good times are back in full swing in Fredericksburg. It’s been a long tough summer for our fun blogging Krew, with trip after tip getting canceled for one reason or another. We made it out of the office for an early morning drive deep into the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Our first stop was at one of our all-time favorite spots, the Altstad Brewery. The grand hall was not open, but we enjoyed some fabulous beers and German cuisine nestled in their bar. Truly an outstanding way to start the day.

Our next stop was Main St, where the shops and wine tasting rooms were open for business. We arrived in the early afternoon on a Thursday so the crows where still a little on the light side. Our second stop of the day was an Italian wine tasting room Cross Mountain, were we enjoyed a nice flight of sweet and reds. The staff was super friendly, and they told us on the weekends the place has been packed. As we ventured out in the early afternoon the streets and bars started to fill up with tourists looking to enjoy all the fun that Fredericksburg has to offer. After a little shopping and a few more tasty drinks we decided to head to Luckenbach to catch some live music.

It’s not a super sort drive out into the middle of nowhere, but it’s a beautiful drive into Luckenbach. We arrived before headliner show of the evening and the crowds we had seen on social media were not there. A pair of country cowboys were picking on their guitar on the outside stage. After a few beers, it was time to head home for the evening.

Most of the big cities in Texas have decided to not re-open the bars and other fun things like live music after Governor Abbott gave them the option. But in Texas Hill Country tourism destination like Frederiksberg, life is getting back to something that resembles normal. The big events like Octoberfest are still cancelled for the year. Smaller events like  OKTOBERFISCH are still a go.

Stay safe and have fun on your next adventure into the Texas Hill Country.
