Alpine – One of the towns right outside of Big Bend. Not as famous as Marfa, but a cool little town
Austin – Music Capital of the Word and one of the two the Big Cities in the Texas Hill Country
Bandera – The cowboy capital of the world! They have one big ass Mardi Gras Party!
Bastrop – The only Hill County town to make the list east of Austin, Bastrop is now almost a burb of Austin.
Fredericksburg – One of the largest of the tourism towns in the Texas Hill Country. They have a plethera of vinyards and events. The hotel rooms can be kinda expensive during the events.
Kerrville – Kerrville is a short drive (25 miles or so) to Fredericksburg. Rooms are frequently more affordable that it’s more famous neighboring Hill Country Towns. It’s also home to a large and popular folk music festival.
Luckenbach – Luckenbach is more of a music venue than a town. There is one campground near by. It’s about 20 miles from Fredericksburg
Llano – A small town near Marble Falls. It’s has a cool river and and a few events worth a visit.
Locakhart – The BBQ capital of world. They have a handful of high quality BBQ restaurants that bring in the crowds from all over.
Horseshoe Bay is resort community on Lake LBJ. There are numerous high end golf courses, a great tennis facility with clay courts, a decent hotel, a marina, condos, and a few restaurants. It’s located about miles 5 West of Marble Falls.
New Braunfels – A tourist detintinaition with all sorts of fun. Home to one of the best water attractions you will find anywhere. Tubing options galore, an amazing music venues, nice campground and home to one of the biggest Octoberfests in the USA!
Marble Falls is on of the original historic towns in the area. There was at one time a set of falls on the Colorado River next to downtown Marble Falls. The town is next to the large lake resort of Horseshoe bay, but also has some charm and entertainment of its own
San Angelo It’s the largest city in the area on the Western outskirts of what most consider the Texas Hill Country. It’s a popular hunting and fishing destination. It also has a cool downtown scene and cheap hotel rooms.
San Antonio – Official the largest city in the Texas Hill County. There are plenty of fun things to do in this town. The River walk and Six Flags being our two favorites.
San Marcos – A very short drive from S Austin. This nice gem of a town sometimes gets overlooked because New Braunfels and Gruene are so close. You can float the river in San Marcos through town, there is one campground, a few museums, and nice stop for a day or two on a Texas Hill Country tour.
